If you’ve never heard of compounding before, don’t worry. Here’s what it means, how it works and how it fits with the treatments and skincare you already love at Believe in Beautiful.

What is compounding?

Most skincare and supplements are made in large batches, with one formula designed to suit as many people as possible. Compounding is different. It’s when a pharmacy prepares a product tailored to an individual, based on a pharmacist’s assessment of that person’s needs or a script.

In simple terms, instead of choosing from what’s on the shelf, a pharmacist considers your needs and prepares a product specifically for you. It’s a more personal approach, guided by a qualified professional.

Tugun Compounding Pharmacy is our partner brand. Their pharmacists compound personalised skincare and nutritional supplements, with each product scripted by a pharmacist to suit the individual.

You may already be using their work without realising it. Our own skincare brand, Australian Skin Institute, is freshly formulated on the Gold Coast in partnership with Tugun Compounding Pharmacy.

Personalised skincare and supplements

Everyone’s skin is different. Some people find that off-the-shelf products don’t quite suit them, whether their skin is sensitive, reactive or simply has specific needs. Compounded skincare gives you the option of a product prepared for you, after a pharmacist has assessed your needs.

If you’re managing a particular concern, such as redness and sensitivity or breakouts, it can be worth asking whether a personalised product could be part of your routine. The pharmacist will talk you through whether it’s suitable.

Looking after your skin is about more than what you apply to it. Tugun Compounding Pharmacy also compounds nutritional supplements, scripted by their pharmacists.

Because every person’s needs are different, we won’t tell you what to take. Instead, a pharmacist will assess your individual needs and recommend what may suit you. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medications, let the pharmacist know so they can take this into account.

How to order

Getting started is simple:

• Visit our compounded skincare and supplements page and request an order form.
• A pharmacist from Tugun Compounding Pharmacy will contact you to discuss your needs.
• Based on their assessment, they’ll prepare a product personalised to you.

There’s no need to know exactly what you’re after before you start. That’s what the conversation with the pharmacist is for.

Numbing cream for cosmetic tattooing

Tugun Compounding Pharmacy also supplies topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) for our cosmetic tattooing treatments, including Feather Touch Brow, Powder Brow, Lip Blush and Eyelash Enhancer. If you’re booked in for cosmetic tattooing, you can order via their topical anaesthetics page. As always, a free consultation comes first for any cosmetic tattooing treatment.

How it fits with your skin routine

Compounded products work alongside, not instead of, the rest of your skin plan. Think of it in three parts:

Not sure where to begin? A Skin Discovery Treatment includes a consultation and in-depth skin assessment, plus a homecare plan. New clients can try it for $99 (usually $180). You can also book a free 20-minute Advanced Skin Consultation.

Our Skin Club members enjoy a professional skin treatment every month, plus savings on retail from both Australian Skin Institute and Tugun Compounding Pharmacy:
