Spring has well and truly arrived in Brisbane. The days are longer, the jacarandas are coming out and the race calendar is filling up. It’s also the ideal time to give your beauty routine a refresh, so you’re feeling fresh and confident long before summer hits.
Here are the treatments and trends we’re loving this season, and how to make them part of your routine.
Spring clean your skin with a reset treatment
After the cooler months, skin can feel dry, dull or a little congested. A professional skin treatment is the easiest way to clear the slate and start the warmer weather with a healthy, hydrated base.
If you’re new to us, start with the Skin Discovery Treatment. It includes a consultation and in-depth skin assessment, our Dermal Face Lift Mask, one targeted modality and a homecare plan. New clients can try it for $99 (usually $180).
From there, three treatments are especially popular in spring:
- Hydro Jelly ($180, 40 min): algae-based Esthemax Hydrojelly® masks that help with hydration, redness and dullness. It’s a lovely choice before an event when you want that fresh, glowing look.
- Micro Skin Treatment ($180, 40 min): microdermabrasion that gently exfoliates to help skin look smoother and brighter. You may be a little pink for a few hours afterwards.
- Peel Skin Treatment ($180, 40 min): your therapist will choose a peel to suit your skin, from a gentle Sensitive Peel through to options for oily or mature skin.
Want a longer-term plan? Our Skin Programs combine a course of different treatments with an Australian Skin Institute product to use at home, and save you 20%. The Barrier & Hydration Program ($800, value $1,000) includes 2 x LED, 2 x Micro and 1 x Hydro Jelly, plus the Barrier Hydration Complex. It’s a beautiful way to rebuild hydration heading into summer. Browse all our skin and facial treatments to see what else suits you.
Dewy, healthy-looking skin is still the look everyone wants this season, and it starts with skincare rather than makeup. A simple routine of cleanse, serum and moisturise goes a long way.
Pair the Rejuvenating Foaming Cleanser with the Pure Hydration Concentrate Serum and All Day Hydration day cream for a fresh spring routine. Our Skincare 3+1 offer means you can buy any four Australian Skin Institute products online with the code ASI3+1 and get the lowest-priced item free.
Trend: 90s brows and lifted lashes
The 90s are having a moment again, and two looks in particular have made a comeback: bold, defined brows and natural, glowing skin. The good news is both are easy to achieve with the right treatment.
- Defined, fluffy brows: Brow Lamination ($155) sets your brows into a brushed-up, fuller shape that lasts around 4 to 6 weeks. For a polished, structured look, try our Signature HD Brows ($95).
- That lit-from-within glow: a Hydro Jelly treatment gives skin a hydrated, radiant finish that suits the minimal makeup look perfectly.
Spring is all about effortless beauty, and a Lash Lift & Tint ($155, 50 min) is one of the easiest ways to get there. It lifts and darkens your natural lashes for around 6 to 8 weeks, so you can skip the mascara on warm mornings. A lash tint about four weeks after your lift makes them pop again.
Prefer more volume? Lash Extensions are $199 for a full set. New clients receive 20% off their first lash or brow treatment.
Start hair removal now for a smooth summer
If you want to be smooth and confident by summer, now is the time to start. IPL hair removal works as a course of treatments, usually every 4 to 8 weeks, so starting in spring gives you a head start. A free consultation is required before any IPL treatment, and you’ll need to avoid sun and tanning for 2 weeks before and after each session.
Prefer waxing? Book in every 4 to 6 weeks for consistently smooth results. See our full waxing menu, from a Brazilian ($79) to a Full Leg ($85). New clients get 50% off their first wax or IPL treatment.
A race-day glow with spray tanning
Spring racing season means fascinators, frocks and a gorgeous glow. A Full Body Spray Tan ($49, 10 min) gives you natural-looking colour without the sun. For the best result:
- Exfoliate at least 24 hours before, using something like the Body Exfoliation Buff and Polish Mitt.
- Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your tan.
- Skip moisturiser, deodorant, perfume and makeup on the day, and wear loose, dark clothes.
- Rinse off after 2 to 6 hours, as guided by your therapist on the day.
Your tan should last around 5 to 7 days. Book it a day or two before the races and moisturise daily to keep it looking even.
A light spring base and daily SPF
As the weather warms up, heavy foundation can feel like too much. Our Australian Skin Institute mineral makeup gives you a lighter, more breathable base. Choose the Liquid Mineral Foundation with SPF15, the Cream Mineral Foundation with SPF15, or the Mineral BB Cream with SPF15 for a sheer finish, and blend with the Premium Angled Kabuki Brush. Explore the full range in our skincare shop.
One important reminder: a spray tan contains no SPF, and makeup alone isn’t enough sun protection. Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every day, especially if you’re having peels or other skin treatments.
Make it easy with a Beauty Pass
If you’re planning regular waxing, IPL, lashes, brows or spray tans this season, a Beauty Pass gives you more for your money. You pay monthly and receive extra credit to spend on the treatments you choose:
- Essential: $69 a month for $85 credit
- Maintenance: $99 a month for $125 credit (our most popular)
- Complete: $149 a month for $200 credit
For example, a monthly Lash Lift & Tint ($155) fits within the Complete pass, with credit left over for a Brow Sculpt ($35) or Brow Tint ($35). There’s a 6-month minimum commitment.
