Microdermabrasion, which we call the Micro Skin Treatment, is a simple way to clear that build-up and reveal a smoother, brighter-looking complexion.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a form of mechanical exfoliation. Rather than using acids to loosen dead skin, your therapist uses a professional device to physically buff away the dull outer layer of the skin. It’s a controlled, even exfoliation that’s very different from scrubbing your face at home.
At Believe in Beautiful, the Micro Skin Treatment takes 40 minutes and costs $180.
Who it suits
The Micro Skin Treatment is a good fit if your main concerns are:
- Dullness. Clearing away dead cells helps skin reflect light more evenly, so it looks fresher.
- Texture. Skin that feels rough or uneven can feel noticeably softer afterwards.
- Congestion. Regular exfoliation helps reduce the build-up that can contribute to clogged-looking skin.
Your therapist will check your skin before every treatment. Let them know if you use retinol, retinoids or exfoliating acids, take medication such as isotretinoin, are pregnant, or have very sensitive or reactive skin. What to expect on the day
Your appointment begins with a chat about your skin and routine. Your therapist then cleanses your skin and works across your face with the microdermabrasion device, adjusting the technique to suit your skin. Most people find it comfortable, a little like a light buffing. Your therapist finishes with soothing, hydrating products and sun protection.
Afterwards, your skin may be a little pink for a few hours. This usually settles quickly, so the treatment fits easily into a lunch break or an afternoon off.

Aftercare and homecare
Freshly exfoliated skin needs a little extra care:
- Skip makeup for 12 hours.
- Avoid heat, the gym and the sauna for 24 to 48 hours.
- Pause retinol and exfoliating acids for 3 to 5 days.
- Wear SPF 50+ every day.
